Our Green Future: Cultivating Change

The 21st century has been called the “century of the environment.” Governments -and individual citizens – can no longer assume that social challenges such as pollution, dwindling natural resources and climate change can be set aside for future generations.

Through policy, research, education, incentives and forward-looking relationships with industry, government can play a central role in building a green future, community by community.

A dawning era of creativity and innovation in “green technology” (also known as “clean technology”) is bringing new possibilities for a healthier planet – as well as the prospect of growing businesses that can sustain its health.

California, with the world’s sixth-largest economy, is setting the standard for policies and programs that aggressively address key environmental challenges, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions and water management to environmentally preferable purchasing and environmental literacy.

Green Technology is a non-profit initiative designed to support those engaged in pursuing the state’s sustainability goals. For more than a decade, it has partnered with leaders from the public sector and industry to develop conferences, expositions and training related to California’s sustainability goals. It also produces articles, whitepapers, blog posts, social media, video and other properties that contribute to awareness and understanding of significant developments in green policy and practice.
