Since 1990, the FASE Pesticide Project has provided the only continuing source of public record information regarding US trade in banned and hazardous pesticides.

Between 1997 and 2000, more than 3 billion pounds of pesticide products were exported from US ports, an average rate of 45 tons per hour. This total included nearly 65 million pounds of pesticides that are either forbidden or severely restricted in the US.

Hundreds of millions of pounds of hazardous products continue to be shipped to developing countries. They are applied by untrained applicators, including women and children. They are applied without adequate protective equipment. At times, they may even be mixed by hand.

Despite the fact that two international treaties have been negotiated to reduce the global burden of hazardous pesticides (and other chemicals), very little information is available regarding the quantities of these products that are currently in trade.

As a result, the FASE reports are vital working resources for governmental agencies, public interest groups, researchers and writers throughout the world.

You can help support this work through a tax-deductible donation. Your contribution will not only make it possible for FASE to continue producing reports--it will also help the Foundation ensure that this material reaches the policy-making community.

This work needs your support! Donations of any size are gratefully accepted. Please send a check to:
